In the past week we have been able to read about the fact that Sweden now officially is a part of the world-round celebration of the Record Store Day on April 18th.

The past years a lot of Gothenburg's and Sweden's record stores have become victims of internet stores and downloads (legal and illegal). And i understand why, its cheaper and has a better coverage of all the music available for us. And its open 24|7. A colleague of mine said that she buys her music online when the kids are asleep at 11 pm at night. She could never find the time to actually go to a store and "shop around". Its easy to do it online, but shopping for music has lost that mystical feeling that is surrounding a record store. How many of us music nerds haven't dreamed of being slightly more like Rob [in High Fidelity] from time to time? I know i did.

The forecast for Swedish records stores are bleak. The local newspaper made some research and most of the one's that are open today will probably have to close down within the year. A business can't run on passion alone. A few is planning to start selling online too, or create a special nisch that attracts more people. Thought's of creating music cafés has been mentioned. Only the future will know.

Its with a slightly melancholy feeling i will celebrate the Record Store Day this spring. Sales, live acts and celebrations will hopefully attract the crowds too.

i saw the northern lights, i had a road trip to Norway, i cooked and ate deer meat, i did dog sledding, i visited the the ice hotel it was a wonderful wonderful trip.

i was at Kiruna for 4 days, returned yesterday.
Kiruna is located in the north of Sweden, 145 kilometer north of the Arctic circle.

Than we went to Narvik , which is in Norway, passing by Abisko

bugun eve geldigimde posta kutumda bir zarf vardi.
zarfın üzerindeki isim ise bana ait degildi. fakat adres dogruydu. kendimi bir Paul Auster hikayesinde hissettim. bir anlıgına zarfa bir mucizeymişsine baktım. ardından kendisinin bir mango katalogu oldugunu farketmemle bütün büyü bozuldu.

en azindan artık, eskiden evimde bir hatunun yaşadıgı konusunda haklı oldugumu biliyorum ^^

yedi bucukta zırt diye uyandım. bir baktım günes dogmakta. ne manzara ama. geldigimden beri günün doğumununa ilk defa şahit oldugumu farkettim sonra, bir dahada uyuyasım gelmedi.

oldukça garip ruyalar goruyorum bu ara. şizofrenik bir durum. istanbulda da oluyordu boyle seyler, hatirliyorum özellikle afrikaya gitmeden önceki dönemimde. ama sonunda hep odamda uyandigimda ufak bir afallamanın ardından da olsa kestirebiliyordum hangisinin dogru hangisinin düş oldugunu.
ama burada, henüz "ev" demediği bir yerde uyandiginda insan bilemiyor. cunku aslinda gercekten de hersey olmuş olabilir.

girls are really, really, really way too coquette
there are no heavy metal people around as you'd expect. instead there are lodsa emos
public transport is very very expensive. 22 krona for a one-hour bus ticket.
swedish milk is tasteless
patatoes are called "potatis" is swedish. (you'd find it funny if you speak turkish)
its normally under 0 degrees celcius, but it is warmer than mid-europe at this time of year
there is a general obsession about ecological stuff
skybar is a cool place to go. bluemoon is over-rated and over-packed

when we were in Prague with genc, oksal and serbetci this summer, i had found this marvelous little book called "nothing to do in Prague" in an old book store. contrary to its name it was a guide to city.

so, this is my guide to Sweden. the only difference is, i am not really being ironic with the name.
